Terms of Service

[ LAST UPDATED: 12 OCTOBER 2026 ]

The agreement between you and lastmsg.app. In plain terms: pay for what you send, send what you'd stand behind, and understand what ephemerality does and doesn't mean.

§ 1The service

LastMessage lets you compose a letter, voice note, photo, or video, pay a one-time fee, and have it delivered to a phone number, Instagram handle, or email address. When the recipient opens it, a 24-hour timer starts; when it ends, the message is deleted from our systems.

§ 2Payment

Each message costs $5.00 (USD), charged once through Stripe's hosted checkout at the moment you seal and send. We never see or store your card details. The charge covers one message, delivered once.

§ 3Refunds

Dispatch happens immediately after payment, so a completed purchase is a delivered service. If a message fails to deliver for a reason that is ours — a system fault, not a mistyped number — write to us and we will refund it or credit another send. Refunds for any other reason are at our discretion.

§ 4What ephemerality means — and what it doesn't

We delete messages 24 hours after they are opened: content, media, and the recipient link die together. We do not control the receiving end. A recipient can screenshot, record, forward, or recall what they received. If a message must never exist outside one pair of eyes, no delivery service — this one included — can guarantee that. You send with that understood.

§ 5Acceptable use

LastMessage is for messages between people who would consent to receive them. You agree not to use it for harassment, threats, intimidation, sexual content involving minors, extortion, fraud, or anything unlawful in your jurisdiction or ours. You confirm you have a legitimate basis for messaging the recipient. We may refuse, suspend, or delete anything that crosses this line.

§ 6Instagram delivery

Automated Instagram messages require approval Meta reserves for approved platforms. When you send to an Instagram handle, we prepare the message and a private link, and you complete delivery yourself. We are not affiliated with Meta or Spotify.

§ 7Availability and warranty

The service is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it running and to make deletion reliable, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness to the extent the law allows. Bugs can, in principle, shorten or lengthen a message's life; we fix them when we find them.

§ 8Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of LastMessage is limited to the amount you paid for the message at issue — that is, five dollars. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including harm caused by content a recipient copied or redistributed.

§ 9Content rights

Your messages are yours. You retain all rights to what you send; we claim none of it, and we use it for nothing but delivery. The modest license we need — to store and transmit your message for the purpose you sent it — ends when the message deletes itself.

§ 10Termination and changes

We may suspend or stop the service with notice where we reasonably can. If we change these terms, the date above moves and material changes are announced on the site before taking effect. Continued use after that means acceptance.

§ 11Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here takes away any right that mandatory local consumer law gives you.
